Good!

You have a really nice style. Your art is excellent which I think is the best starting point to good animation. You've really perfected the art of capturing emotion, especially through slow motion. My one criticism would be that some of the shots (particularly at the start) lasted too long. I know you probably wanted to keep with the music but you need to think about editing in creating excitement. Generally speaking, the more action is occurring, the faster the editing bewtween shots. Even in movies where they use slow motion they will only use a littl bit because are at risk of loosing the attention of their audience if they show something in too much detail for too long. But Like I say it was awesome. I look forward to seeing what you come up with next =D

Awesome again

It's funny, intellectual, has a message what more could you want. I'm not sure everyone got the Australia related jokes but hey, it was made for QandA. I really wish I saw this one on TV =( Ah well, life goes on. Excellent work my greasy friend.

thanks! yeh the 5% is a little obscure, even for some australians

Very nice!

It had a good storyline and was relatively funny but I could tell that the animation was rushed this time, no offence. Also I see that your flash like mine was barely noticed by newgrounds. I only got 2 reviews on JvB and one of them I asked for. lol

You have once again managed to turn a few days work into another utterly entertaining masterpiece so I give you my congradulations. Well done!

El-Sammo responds:

Thanks for the review man.

Yeah it sucks when you just get looked over. I didn't even get put in the Christmas or winter collection. I did like 60% of this between 11pm christmas eve until 7am christmas day, so yeah the animation was a bit rushed.

A beautiful end to a beautiful series!

It made me so happy to see it end this way. You managed to tie up all the loose ends and still make an incredibly entertaining animation. You once again managed to incorporate the music wonderfully. I don't no how to critisise this.

This series has brought a smile to my face and a tear to my eye.
Thankyou.

Awesome!

Very very nice. The animation was good, the art was spectacular. The only problem I had with it though is that I thought you should have pushed back some of the dates. It reminds me of the first episode of futurama where the suicide booth says "thankyou for using stop and drop, Americas favorite suicide booth, since 2008." or something like that. Anyway the point is it was hilarious when it came out because the idea of a suicide booth so near in the future was hilarious. But now that 2008 is almost over, it just doesn't make sense and has really lost the believability of the episode. So, the point is, while it's cool now to say that the american embassy will get bombed in 2009, in 2009 it just won't be as good. You should have set it further in the future.

Of course since I am watching it in 2008, I have no problem 10/10 5/5.

Nice!

G'day

Ok, First of all let me say goodwork. You have certainly come a long way since "Get Back" (Although I liked "get back" the song better). You have got the character design almost perfect, the shapes of the faces look good and you used some effective angles. But, I would suggest that in the future you attempt some shading, honestly it adds so much to animations especially if you can use the shadows to emphasise expression. Also you're animation is a bit choppy but don't worry about that, it will become smoother in time.

When all the people get off the subway and they move past the main character, they just look like two blobs moving past him. This would be easily solved if you made the "blobs" animated slightly. Just 3 or 4 frames would do, slowly changing and perhaps have one person trailing behind the pack slightly. Finally near the start of the show when the chick approaches him, you swap to a silouette view and you used gradients. Well obviously I can't tell you how to animate you're stuff but I strongly suggest that you don't use gradients in the future to do this kind of thing. In my humble opinion it makes the flash look messy and would improve tremendously if you just used plain black with a blur. If you want an example of really good quality silouettes in flash, I suggest you check out either the opening scenes of the composer or valhalla knights.

Well, I hape that's been helpful. Sorry If I was too harsh, like I say it was really good.

Thanks for the review. I'm working on shading, but with this cartoon I was pressed for time. I had to finish it and I was not sure if I was going to. With the gradients I'll keep your advice in mind, but my friends and family seeing it wanted more color, but at the same time I wanted to keep the somber tone of the story. I had plain backgrounds behind the band and decided to mess around with the gradients to see what I could get.

Not Bad!

I acctually liked it towards the end. There are a few things I had problems with though. First of all, you really need to lift your frame rate, the movement was jumpy and somewhat unbelievable. One of my friends has pivot and I understand that it lacks some of flashes helpful features such as multiple frame onion skinning, but it can't be said that it's slower or harder to use than flash. I spent three months on one of my old ones although I was animating frame by frame. The best advice I can give you if you want to continue improving your animating skills is to buy flash. Now I know what you're thinking "Ahh Flash costs over a thousand bucks since Adobe took over" but since you're a student you can download an educational version off the internet for less than half that (between 300-400 dollars Australian). It is seriously worth it!

so yeah, not bad

Animation so good it makes me want to quit!

Wow, I can only think of 2 animators on newgrounds that could possibly top that...
...and both of them are you.
I really hope you find the resourses to make a feature length movie I love the way there is almost no dialogue and yet we know exactly what's happening. I know these reviews are meant to be filled with constructive critisism but how could I possibly critisise that! You are undoubtably the best flash animator in the world and one of the best animators. Kudos.

Great!

Sticks are rarely this good! you are all great animators. Nice choice of music too (I love the arctic monkeys!)

Hell Yeah!

It was awesome! I loved the way that the art was basic but you could always tell what was happening, (did you trace the people off a video)? I also loved the cello at the start. the only bit I didn't like was that sometimes parts of their body would be missing right at the edge of the screen, I felt it ruined the illusion of life and made it look like a moving blob for a while anyway. but a nice choice of colours. very epic. good work!

Merol responds:

THANKS!!!
I will add black edges.

Well I'm not really sure what to write here but anyway. I have owned flash for a couple of years now and it's replaced whatever crappy computer game I used to play for entertainment. I tend to make fairly random flashes with no storyline... Yeah.
